Subject: FLASH: email to asp to database to flash question

I have a question about asp + flash.
Say you are sent an email with a url to an asp page which includes a
reference to a database entry (ie www.myurl.com/myasp.asp?myvariable). You
click on this and it takes you to a flash movie which loads the database
entry and you see a message from the database.

I think I'm missing something here. I know how to get variables from an asp
page using the load variables command, but to do this I have to ask for them
from the flash movie.

I also know how to have an asp get info from a url (ie
www.myurl.com/myasp.asp?myvariable) and do something with it.

What I don't get is how Flash gets the information in this case. If I use
load variables, it will ask an asp page for variables that it won't have
because the asp page has to get the variables from the email url, and not
from the flash query. I don't want to use session variables because they
slow things down.

If you are taken to the asp page first, I can build the variable into the
url when I launch the flash movie, but to my knowledge I can't pull
variables from the url of the page I am on in Flash (I can't pull the
content of the location bar in Flash).

I hope my question makes sense to someone. It seems like I am missing some
simple piece of information that will make it all clear. Any help would be
greatly appreciated to get me over this frustrating hurdle.
Thanks,
Larry Armstrong
