Note: A timeline must currently be in the Flash Player in order to be
targeted. A timeline of a movie clip is present in the Player when the
playback head is positioned in the frame that the movie clip exists. For
example: if there is a movie clip placed on the timeline in frames 1 - 20,
it can be targeted while the movie is playing or stopped at any frame
between 1 and 20. Once the movie reaches frame 21 the movie clip is no
longer in the Player and cannot be targeted.

Subject: FLASH: "Tell Target" BUG?
Dear List
I always try to work HARD before bothering people with simple questions, but
right know < enough is enough. I'm not willing to "try and error" anymore...
I've a MC sitting on the main timeline with the instance name "handleItems".
>From within another MC (Instance name: Master) < sitting on the main
timeline too < I placed a button (Instance name: menutask) which has the
following script attached:
On (Release)
Begin Tell Target ("../handleItems")
Play
End Tell Target
End On
...which should tell "handleItems" to play, but it doesn't works!
Any tip, trick, workaround, help or solution appreciated very much.
Thanks in advance
-Dominik
