yeah.

amen

No. Shockwave is cross platform, ie mac authored shockwave file plays fine
on Win/vs. versa (given font/palette/etc. issues are properly dealt with).

Scam? No. Trouble of course outputting a Mac file on a PC as seen with Flash
is it must be compressed (hqx'd), opened on a Mac, memory set, etc. Back in
the day some of this tech (hqx'ing) on a PC was unavailable and or less
developed.

However, its of course much more developer friendly to require only a Mac
(or a friend with one) to develop a cross platform file on a PC rather than
a full version of the program simply to make a projector, now that the
process has been developed and proven (developing an exe on a Mac is much
easier, however bow to the winds of x-platform equality;-).

Of course, one could make the case that given the greater scope of a typical
director project it generates much less problems for tech support to require
a full authoring version on both platforms. However, IMHO, currently, the
Flash section of MACR is obviously more developer friendly than the Director
section (now if they could only clear calling a video file from an swf
through corporate;-)...
