Subject: RE: FLASH: LiveMotion - Pros & Cons

from this poor hack's perspective ...

-

- LiveMotion doesn't do actionscripting or forms.
If you're doing high end work with scripting, you'll
certainly stick with Flash--it owns the high end. :)
(LiveMotion does have behaviors--but they're kinda basic.)
- LM doesn't have a Tracing tool.
- LM will turn objects into bitmaps if you apply effects
that require such.* (If you stay on top of things, this
shouldn't be a problem.)
- LM doesn't create projector files.

+

+ LiveMotion makes quick work out of rollovers (straight,
remote, and cascading) and many animation tasks.
+ It also gets along well with Photoshop and Illustrator
(access to layered artwork) and has some cool time-saving
features such as styles (that can include rollover and
animation information).
+ There's a traditional Pen tool.
+ The Timeline is inspired by AfterEffects.
+ It also creates sliced JavaScript files.

* (The compression's pretty good.)

In ways, it could be said that LiveMotion is aimed at creatives
that want to create SWF files but have had a difficult time
getting going with Flash (for whatever reason).

If anyone's interested in LiveMotion training, I'm in the
process of pulling together a little one-day seminar thang.
