I'm pretty sure you need to go up a lever here.


Let's say this is your scenario.... If I understood correctly:


Main Timeline contains MC1(instance name: clip1) and MC2 (clip2)

clip1 contains a button that needs to control clip2


You need to script like this:



On(Release)

	Begin Tell Target ("../clip2")

		Play [or whatever your action is]

	End Tell Target

End On


See, you need to go up to the main timeline level and call the movie clip

from there(../) like a relative URL in HREF.  At least that's how I

understand it.  That's why the MC name doesn't show up, because there's no

instance of "clip2" on your "clip1" movie clip timeline.

I'm screwing something up here....


I have a MC that has some buttons in it....


I then have a different MC, which has an instance name...


I'm trying to get the buttons with in the 1st MC to tell target the second

MC....  is this possible? I haven't been sucessful yet.... the MC name

doesn't show up when I'm doing the action scripting, so I just tried in

putting the instance name and going on with it....


Any ideas?
