I would recommend Vecta3D. On the Flash 4.0 CD-ROM, there are samples of

this program's images in the Goodies folder. You can also download a

demo at

http://www.vecta3d.com

It is a simple program that you can either buy as a standalone or as a

plug-in for 3D Studio Max. The plug in lets you output your 3D animation

straight to flash or illustrator files. 

It sounds like you are interested in making vector images into 3D

shapes. This program also does this, it imports vector images and

extrudes them to look 3D.
