FLASH: Basic flash text effect question

Hello there,


I am trying to learn some text effect techniques, can someone tell me

how people (like e3 direktiv) do that sort of contracting/fade in sort

of effect on the text? Is there an easy standard way or a tutorial? My

basic knowledge is suggesting that they have to make each letter a

symbol and put them on a separate layer and tween/alpha them into

existence. Am I on the right track?
