I am actually using XML right now... Cold Fusion supports a subset of XML
known as WDDX (Web distributed data exchange) and WOW is it handy for
transfering whole data structures between servers!(and between Flash and CF!
;-) ) I really think it is just time until XML catches on in front end as
well.

It is like any new technology. Flash went through the phase where there
were more people without the plugin than there were people with it. Now
it has become a standard - and I'd like to see someone disprove that.
Things take time and it's a real effort providing for those without XML
capability and with XML capability but its worth it in the long run.
Grab it by the horns and work with it. Redirect to standard sites if the
user cannot support XML.

What you said, only about three years from now will anyone see it being
practical to use in commercial projects which require support from all
browsers.
