1. Is it possible to rename scenes? It sure would make it easier to find the one I want.

Use the Scene Inspector's Properties button to rename scenes.

>2. When a movie is loaded onto a new level, is it possible to disable the buttons on the movie below?

Not automatically. You could "park" your buttons by creating a keyframe and changing the button instances in that keyframe from the "button" type to "graphic" type, thereby disabling the button. When you unload the new movie, move the movie in level 0 to a new keyframe containing the buttons as button instances again.

>3. How much can effects such as translating, scaling and alpha effects affect the actual size of the .swf file?

It's impossible to say what could be causing this based on the limited description. One suggestion would be to use the Generate size report option in publishing your movie to create a text file explaining what's in the movie. Then look at that text file and see what's so big.

>4. What's the best option for exporting an image for print?

Depends on too many variables to answer - what program are you using to print, and to what type of printer?

If you have Flash do an automatic motion tween from the timeline, it will create a symbol (called "tween #" where # is a number) from the object(s) in that layer. If you perform a tween manually on an already existing symbol, no such "tween #" symbol will be created.
