Subject: FLASH: Estimating Flash costs
From: Brian Mays
Date: Wed, 24 Nov 1999 03:16:17 GMT

We are going to be redesigning a website with a Flash into. The bosses
have NO idea how to quote/bid a site with Flash. Quoting is not
something I do either...they recommended I check with some user groups.

My initial gut reaction is to quote at LEAST twice as much as we do for
straight HTML/Photoshop work. And to factor in three times as much
time. I'm taking a number of things into consideration...such as having
to draw all the items as vector images, the time it takes to align and
animate things, the bug testing that will need to be done to it, and the
learning curve that will be involved (this is our first piece using
Flash to any large extent). Plus the fact that an alternate page
WITHOUT Flash will need to be built.

Are there other factors we should consider that I might be overlooking?
I kinda feel out of my league trying to quote a price for them.

Thanks for your time,
Brian Mays
