Problem solved only to find a new one....
I've found that the Get URL works but only if you're viewing the SWF in a
browser. If I publish the work to a projector so that clients aren't
required to have Flash Player on their computer, the buttons won't pull up
the PDF document.
Are there special settings I have to put on the projector? Do I need to use
a different command?
HELP!

Thanks Chrissy. I tried that, but I'm getting no response when I publish the
movie and test the button. This site is going to go on a CD-Rom, so the PDF
will be on there. In the Get URL box, I put just the name of the document
(it won't be in any folder). Am I forgetting something here?

You should be able to just use a Get URL action with the URL set to the URL
of your PDF file and the Target set to _blank.
