The Flash Jester product I would need just to open up a PDF from Projector
is $99. Does anyone know of a more economical solution? A DOS window isn't
going to look professional, and spending a hundred bucks to open a simple
file doesn't seem reasonable to me.

Well that could be the problem right there :) I was assuming you were doing
this from the web. Is it going to be in a projector? If so, you might have
to do this a little differently. I have found that Get URL works great at
opening HTML files in the projector, but it's not consistent when trying to
open other files. You can get around this a few ways:
One way is to use "the BAT trick", which just means you make a BAT file to
open the PDF file in its default viewer, then refer to the BAT file in Flash
using the FS Command "Exec" There's a tutorial for this at
http://www.flashlite.net/help/cd/f3/. The problem with this solution is
that it's ugly (DOS window pops up).
A more elegant solution would be to use a product like JTools to open up the
file. You can find out more about this at http://www.flashjester.com
