FLASH: Continous scroll MC on a mixed background

I downloaded the textscroller.fla from God-knows-where, and although it's pretty close to what I'm looking for, it only seems to work well with a blank background.  My movie has several buttons, pictures, etc around the area where I want the text scrolling.  I've tried copying from the main stage to the "text scrolling" movie clip, but it looks false and "forced".  Anyone got any ideas here.


JC was speaking several weeks ago about a plug-n-play for large text files as variables which would be posted to the "Flash Bible" web site, but this seems to have fallen by the way.  Wassup, John - got one of those "life" things I hear so much about?
