Macs use a small header (a fork) inserted at the beginning of a file to

identify what type of file a file is. PCs don't understand Mac forks and

use the file extension to identify what type of file a file is. So when

someone sends an FLA created on a PC it will not have the resource fork

that Macs use to identify files.

If the file did not work after opening (as below) then you would need to

send it compressed as zip or bin-hex because there is no MIME setting

for FLA files. It's about a fifty-fifty proposition and we often try

sending small files uncompressed first.

FLA files created on a PC will not have a resource fork so will not open

normally on a Mac. You can add the resource fork (file and creator

types) manually or open the file in Flash with File > Open > Menu and

change to "all formats". You should now be able to see the file and open

it. When you save it Flash will add the proper resource fork and you

will then be able to open it normally.
