I've been going through a similar problem with Flash 5 over the past two
weeks. I could open a document and work on it for awhile but then it would
sometimes crash on save. If I tried opening any other documents, it would
lock up every time. If I got too aggressive while working by dragging
bitmaps around with a mouse, that too would cause it to lock up. Really
frustrating since Flash 4 never crashed on me! Anyway... I found a solution.
While working on a separate problem with my double monitor setup, I
discovered that Virtual Memory had gotten turned back on. Not sure when that
happened.. but I quickly turned it off. That was last week and Flash hasn't
crashed since and my the problem with double monitors is gone.

Here's what I recommend for everyone having trouble with Flash 5 on the Mac:

Delete Flash 5 and the preferences in case it's corrupted with all the
crashing. Turn off virtual memory and restart your Mac. Rebuild the desktop
as it's finishing it's startup. Then reinstall Flash and you might find that
to be the solution. Worked for me anyway and I'm using a G3 with OS 9.04

Hope that helps!
