I had this happen before and it was because I had the "scale" option checked
in my motion tween. (Flash 5)

Subject: FLASH: Alpha Change Motion Tween

I am having trouble with graphic symbols shifting when all I am doing is
reducing the alpha from 100 to 0. Without moving the graphic, I've inserted
two key frames, the first to anchor the graphic at 100 alpha up to that
point, the second with alpha set to 0. Up to this point, all graphics are in
an identical position. As soon as I create the motion tween to create this
fade, the graphic starts moving to the right (though in info it is still in
an identical position on all keyframes). There is no spare white border
around the graphic (vector format imported into Flash). How can I stop this
happening?
