Subject: RE: FLASH: Deleting unused items from the Library?

Thanks, that is how I ended up going about it, but it made me nervous to
delete the button when it didn't tell me it was unused (I saved a copy).
The question is why does it think the button is used? I'd love to know the
reasoning behind this. Morbid curiousity, I guess.

The reason is probably because you have a bitmap inside a symbol...

What I usually do when I want to clean up my library is I first grab the
largest symbol (let's say you have a bitmap inside a graphic symbol which is
inside a button symbol which is inside a movie symbol -- in that case, I
grab the movie clip first) and delete it. Then all the symbols used in the
movie clip (if they are unique to that movie clip) will show up with a use
count of "0". Then, to follow this example, I delete the buttons, then the
graphics contained in the button, and finally the bitmaps contained in the
graphic.

Look at it as unpacking a suitcase.
