Since I primarily work with MIDIs, I use Midigraphy. I have used
SoundEdit and Sound Sculptor II in the past and I must have preferred
the latter since it is what I registered.

But really, There are so many MIDIs that for sound effects I take
parts of things I know and put them together. Than convert to a
format Flash (very limited) can import.

a tucows site - all Mac sound programs.
