Subject: | FLASH: Advanced Playlist/windows explorer in Flash? |

Hi,
i'm willing to make an advanced playlist so visitors can define
themselves wich movies they want to have played, and wich not.
I'm thinking about the following concept:
Two coloms, the left colom for the files that must be played, the right
colom for the files that are available but wich the user doesn't want to
be played.
I want to work with variables that can be loaded from a .txt file. So
that it's possible to make different movies available for different
visitors.
I know which functionality I want in my playlist explorer, but I'm not
quite sure which way is the best for building it. Or perhaps it's even
better to use generator.
I'm doubting about a lot of things. Perhaps it's a little bit confusing
when you read it, but that's because of my bad english and the lot of
things going through my mind:
1.
First the movie has got to load the .txt file. With that file i need to
simulate a 2 dimensional database in Flash (using arrays?) summing all
the files available, and per file it's attributes values like
"selected?, title, time, producer, number_in_list" etc. What's the best
way to do this?
2.
How do I make the playlist's content visible? It is possible to make a
textbox with a specific variablename. So i can replace the text in the
textbox with the variable value. But i'm never sure how much files are
selected and how much not! I don't know how to use the duplicate command
in such a way that it duplicates as much boxes as needed at the left
(with all different variable names like selectedsong_i and
nonselectedsong_x) and right?
3.
Is it possible to let the user sort the variables on name, title etc.?
I can go on like this for hours. It's like building something like an
ws_ftp window, entirely in Flash and using .txt files. You can even
think about dragging and dropping etc.
Has someone done this before? Or who can give me some ideas? I'm not
willing to reinvent the wheel, but the functionality looks very cool to
me! I guess it will take some time. Shall i start with it (i've just
started learning actionscript).
Oef,
I'll stop writing. I'm curious about how you all think about this.
Waldo
