FLASH: JS Flash plugin detection

[Bill]

I have tried using Javascript to detect the presence of a Flash 

plugin (a la Dreamweaver) so if it not present, I can send the user 

to my page which gives the option of getting the plugin or skipping 

the Flash movie.


The problem is that the browser detects the absence of the plugin and 

redirects to a plugin page before the Javascript has a chance.


I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
