Hi there

There's a more technical way to describe this, but here us how I would explain it...

File sizes can be relative compared to the size of the disk they are stored on. Larger disks or larger disk partitions may view a file as
larger than it really is. Files on huge servers may have inflated sizes.

On a recent Mac OS, select the file and hit Command-I to view the file size. Look at the btyes on the right in parentheses to determine the
actual size.

Another trick determine the accurate size is to copy the file onto a floppy disk. Because the storage space is small, the pieces of info are
kept small as well.

Does that help?

sharon
