Subject: FLASH: OT: Book review - Why We Buy: The Science of Shopping

I would normally not post something that's this far off topic, but I found it fascinating and thought those of you working in a commercial field would enjoy it as well. I have no connection to the author, and my endorsement does not imply endorsement by Macromedia.

There's a relatively new book out called Why We Buy: The Science of Shopping, by Paco Underhill (Simon & Schuster, ISBN: 0684849135). Mr. Underhill is the founder of the consulting firm Envirosell (http://www.envirosell.com/book_info.html), a sort of "consumer anthropologist" who studies why people shop they way they do. His findings are presented in a light, highly readable manner. This book is a "quick read" but is sure to make you consider and reconsider how you do business. If you sell anything you will probably enjoy reading this book. It made me notice how the stores I enter are set up, particularly the inefficient ways some stores do business. Many of his tips can be applied to web sites as well, in my opinion.

Check out the reviews at Amazon.com or any similar book seller. I think you'll like it.
