A spy hole button with moving mask would indeed be easier and if the

mask were a plain solid color this is not a bad idea. When using a spy

hole button mask, the mask will move and unless it is a plain solid

image it's movement will be obvious and not at all what is desired.


A real Mask layer animation even with the tracking of the Masked layer

moves smoother than the simpler spy hole button that has a moving mask

even if it is a solid color. If the mask of the spy hole button is not a

plain solid color then its image will not only move but it will move

like a turkey (very jerky).
