After years with Hiway technology, I've just started using CI Host. HiWay
was the best (they're still the largest) but they aren't features/price
competive anymore. BTW they've recently become a Verio company. Where
Hiway was charging $25/mo for a 20-40MB site with a handful of POP addreses,
some nominal traffic volume, and no database capability (you may not wantit
today, but you will soon), CI host offers around 500MB, unlimited traffic,
unlimited POP accounts, unlimited mail forwards, database support, all
popular (non-MSoft) scripting (PHP, Miva, Python etc.), password protected
directories, anonymous ftp, etc. etc. etc. for the same price. Hiway is not
even close. HOWEVER, I have only been with CI host for a month. So far so
good. The tech support is quite good (especially late at night on weekends
when I'm in serious experiment mode). All significant webhosts will support
the popular mime types such as FLASH. The only thing they don't do is
streaming QTime and cold fusion.
Where are they located? Who knows, who cares (well you might care if you're
not in the USA, cause they are).
Have fun! Getting a new host has been a kick!
