Many things to consider when doing this:

1. Save out as QuickTime movie
2. Frame rate, 25fps for PAL and 29.97 for NTSC
3. Screen size, 768*576 for PAL, 640*480 for NTSC
4. Square pixels, a TV uses rectangular pixels, a computer square. I usually
make the QuickTime movie 768*576 on the computer, so that I can see what it
looks like, then deliver it to the post house scaled to 720*576 (D1 PAL)
5. Interlacing, you need to field render your QuickTime movie, as a TV
basically updates every other line 50 fps (PAL).
6. Title and action safe area, make sure that all the crucial
elements/animations fit within the title safe area, which is roughly 768*576
- 20%.
7. Broadcast safe colours, some very saturated colours don't work on a TV,
such as red and yellow.
8. Interlace flicker. thin horizontal lines will cause some serious
flickering because of TV interlacing. Take the whole movie into Adobe After
Effects and apply app 2 pixels vertical motion blur to the whole movie to
avoid this.

You need very expensive hardware to output a QuickTime movie lossless to
tape. The post house I use have a DPS Hollywood, which can output the whole
d1 frame lossless to digital Betacam, from this you can make VHS dubs.

Most places with an Avid or Media 100 will be able to output it for you, but
in most cases it wont be lossless.

let me know if you need any help.

Good luck

Tom
