Jonathan:
I don't know exactly what is causing your crashes.
But generally crashes are a result of bad programming.
Yes Flash creates a program!
It is like an html editor but the reality is Flash is
programming with graphic-objects.
It responds a little differently than a file like
photoshop. There are a lot of Flash developers who don't
have a clue about programming and consequently sooner
or later they get into crashing trouble, either there
own machine or other visitors browsers, which unfortunately
I get to experience alot more than I want.
My suggestion would be to take a fresh look at
your project and see if there are places that you
can optimize, places that you are making
wierd calls or have un-necessary symbols
or images burried under top layer channels.
Poorly constructed movie clips.
Take a real close look at what point it crashes.
Pull that part of the movie apart, that is
isolate that channel to a new file, a single scene
and you can test it as a program module.
I was just experiencing some crashes on a very
complex standalone, not in testing scenes but
in executing the projector.
I went back and created a new timeline and
copied and pasted carefully reconstructing
the new timeline with modules that I thought
could be causing the problem. I found ways to really
optimized the original file. It was half the
channel depth and I did it because I know from
scripting that extra stuff in a program
is a bad program design and can lead to all
sorts of downline problems...crashes!
It runs flat out now and I know for
sure that the "program design" is optimal.
