Sarah,

You'll need to insert some blank frames at the start of the movie. Also, if
the movie clips take a long time to load, you might want to consider
converting one of them to the main timeline, or at least a copy of it, so
the real content starts playing sooner. Of course, I don't know what the
content is, so this may or may not be practical.

The primary disadvantage of movie clips is exactly what you're seeing now
-- they need to load entirely before playing.
