Never mind all, just plugged in an eval statement into the IF statement and
it works.

Set Variable: "counterSub" = 1
Loop While (counterSub<=totalImages)
If (eval("taken" & counterSub) = 1 and number = counterSub)
Set Variable: "go" = 0
End If
Set Variable: "counterSub" = counterSub+1
End Loop
