Someone else mentioned this on another list.  Maybe it's OS-dependent? 

When I turn pen preview on, I can see a line being dragged out from the

previous anchor point before I click and again before I release the

mouse, so it seems to be working as it's supposed to (Windows NT).  But

I find it much easier to draw with the pencil and then just use the pen

to edit and refine, so I don't use preview mode anyway (but I tried it

just to see).
