MIDI is not an audio standard rather than a communications protocol standard between various musical devices. It doesn't carry any sound information so there is no guarantee that the end result on another unit will be what the author intended.


I would choose using a sound file itself for consistency and a certain level of predictability.


If I need something a little more industrial strength, I can always use Director with the Beatnik Xtra (sort of combines the benefits of Midi and audio files)
