Rich,
You might consider this:

Hope it helps...
PS: Tom is my uncle, I've known him all my life...he is a brilliant man
I've been to one of his creative workshops in Boston...I was amazed at the
step by step methodical approach to being creative
...Tom has dissected the creative thinking process ....and he has improved
upon it...
Best Regards,
TOny

I am an artist by nature and envy all the programmers here, so it's funny to
see a post like this. I recommend finding the book "Drawing on the Right
Side of the Brain". One example is to turn an object upside down, draw what
you see without associating the object with something familiar. Then turn
it right side up and you'll be amazed how accurate you were. If an object
is upside down, you force the logic side of your brain to draw exactly what
you see, and the artistic side of your brain is sort of on hold. i.e... you
are no longer concerning yourself with the familiararity of the object and
drawing it proportionally and accurate, but instead, you are drawing lines
and shapes. I have to do the opposite when learning programming. I use
the right side of my brain to see programming phrases as pictures then I can
recall them as pictures instead of words. (my left side of the brain hurts
if I think logically)
I don't recall the author of the book, but it teaches non artists how to
become an artist. It's very interesting, and I'm amazed at the results. I
believe artistic skills can be learned if they don't come naturally. I also
recommend you take some basic perspective drawing classes as well as shading
and light effects.

but where I really lack is in the actual design skills. Having seen some of
the sites listed on this mailing list I am amazed at the quality of the
sites. I have had no design/art background at all, as I imagine some of you
haven't, but I would like to learn at least a little bit about design/art.
Any of you know any good sites about learning to be, I suppose, more
creative. You know of any 'art classes' that are on the web?
