FLASH: cookie detection in Flash or equivalent?

here is the scenario. Home page opens with an animation that leads into a 

menu bar. From there, the user clicks on button to go to aother page. Now, if 

the user uses the back button on HIS BROWSER (not the home button inside 

movie), he has to sit through the whole animation again. Is there a way of 

setting a variable that would be the equivalent of setting a cookie?
