FLASH: MASKING EFFECT - (Newbie question) HOW IS THIS DONE?

Hi:

I was wondering if someone could point me to an online

tutorial to achieve this effect. After the brief

history of this video appears click on the "GO"

button. 

  The effect I am refering to is where the text

"REGURGE" appears to be drawn by the flashing lights.

It looks like they are using some kind of masking

effect. Thanks in advance.
