Thanx for the insight on the auto crop. That thought never crossed my mind.
The way you suggested I proceed worked perfectly with the exception that I
had to use a black fill in Illustrator or the graphic wouldn't move out on
the stage.

Thanx for the help.

Hey Eric,
The weird thing about exporting from illustrator to photoshop is that the
automatic crop goes right up to the nearest point in the illustrator
document (in other words, it auto crops) in doing this it sometimes creates
artifacting on the text which could be what you are seeing, you wouldn't be
able to see it in photoshop because it is so close to the edge of the
document. A way to solve this is in Illustrator, create a box big enough to
enclose your work with a good amount of breathing space between the outer
edge of the box and the outer edge of your graphic. On the box make the
fill empty and the stroke black, then export it out to a Photoshop format.
Then in Photoshop crop it down as close to your graphic as you want so you
eliminate the black box and still protect the anti-aliasing. Try that out
and let me know how it goes! :)
