Yes, you can import an SWF into Flash but it is in no way editable. A Flash
file by its very nature comprises of all the layers and is editable. And
also, you mentioned the magic word, Import. To import is to use a file not
of native origin to the program.

Of course i am speaking purely on my own here, and with a bit of added
ignorance, since i do not own Illustrator9, but you *should* be able to
import that SWF file it gives you into Flash.... Right? File>Import> and
then choose swf from the drop down box, and find your file....
This *should* work.... once again, i do not own Illustrator9, and therefore
cannot test this, but i see no reason why it wouldn't work.
