FLASH: Problems with Hillman Curtis Book

Hi all,


I'm new to the list and starting to move on to more complicated areas of

Flash.


I bought the Hillman Curtis book and feel there is much to be learned and

have followed along with the book's tutorials relatively well.


I do have a problem in Chapter 4 of the book. There are a number of errors

which I believe I have corrected. My problem is the second movie will not

show when I place my mouse over the initial movie. My flash movie goes black

when I put the mouse over the first movie. I looked through the chapter 4

fla file that can be downloaded from his site. I think I have done

everything the same. I only programmed the button with the actions on page

4:20 of step 8 of Curtis's book. No further. And tested at that point.


What is odd is I took the fla file Curtis has at his site and removed all

the actions and button and redid the button and actions(up to 4:20) I got

that fla file to work. But when I try to do the whole tutorial from scratch

up to section 4:20 without his fla file I get the black screen I mentioned.

I must be doing something BEFORE the creation of the button and the

programming of the actions for the button that produces my problem.


Could someone suggest to me what Curtis may have left out in his steps that

may be creating my problem? I know I'm speaking in generalities and

apologize but I'm getting very frustrated at this point. I did fix the

problems of step 6 in his book in chapter 4  so I believe I've done

everything correctly there as well.
