Hi ant,

I had a similar problem when the F5 beta was knocking around (I couldn't get
the F4 player back). In the end I deleted the swflash.ocx file from my
system folder, then reinstalled the Shockwave activex controls (you can get
the Shockwave activex installer from Shockwave.com in the faq section). Then
the autoinstall worked fine!
I don't know if this will solve your problem though, maybe someone from
macromedia has a more straightforward solution?

I have a few colleagues that are unable to install the flash 5 player.

they already have the v4 player installed (on PC's) and when they go to the
auto updates page, it thinks they already have the correct player, but right
clicking on the animation gives 'about flash 4'.

any ideas? TIA
