Subject: RE: FLASH: printing pdfs from Flash

Flash's print function allows a frame to be printed . . . even a frame that
has never or will be seen by the cd user. It's a pretty awesome ability. So
you could format the docs into a flash frame. Flash has pretty darn good
layout capabilities and when published uses much less bandwidth than .pdf
documents. Although you really don't get to benefit from using a page making
program like pagemaker or quark, nonetheless it would be pretty easy to
compile those documents in flash - although take some time . . . but worth
it in my opinion. The text can even be loaded variables . . .

If the cd user doesn't have acrobat, you will need to have them install
that.

just some more thoughts . . .

Thanks for the reply.
The project consists of about fifty links to the pdf docs. The users already
know approximately what's in the docs and don't need to look at them. They
just need to compile the list of the files that they need and hit "print".
That's why I don't want pdfs to open before printing.
This is for the cd, and the interface has already been designed in Flash and
functionality is there too (like rollovers, etc). So I don't want to move to
Director.
The plan for now is to create a list of variables (names of the files that
needed to be printed) in Flash, pass it to Director and use Xtra MasterApp
that can open pdf files hidden and print them "invisibly".
Any other options, anyone?
