Is the core problem then "What should Select-All do in one window?", rather
than actually moving things on screen? I'm still not sure if this is the
central part of the post, sorry.

Are you not able to get something done? Or is it more than a certain finger
gesture doesn't do the same thing in the new timeline? I'm not sure where
the emphasis is in this thread, sorry.
