Hi Paul
I think you were having problems because the bullet was looping around it's
first few frames waiting for something to happen. I think if it got caught
mid-loop, it didn't really work i.e. you're targeting a labelled frame in
the baddy correctly from the 'bullet' clip, but at the same time the clip is
hitting the frame telling it to go to and play 1. I managed to get it
working by just having a stop action at the beginning of the baddy clip,
then having frame 2 labelled 'hit' and targeting that frame when a hit
occurs.
Another thing that might be causing probs is the way all the code is mixed
into graphics holding keyframes. While that shouldn't cause a problem in
itself, you might find it easier to see what's going wrong if you put all
the actions on a separate layer and keep everything as simple as possible.
It looked to me you had more keyframes than strictly neccesary.
Anyways, let me know if you'd like me to email the .fla offlist with my
amendments...the hit works every time!
hth

Subject: FLASH: Tell Target Problem
Hi there
I am having real problems trying to discover why my Flash movie is not doing
what I expect it to do.
I am making a simple game (asteroids-ish) where a spaceship shoots bullets
at enemy ships.
I have a collision detection routine which appears to be working fine - when
a collision is detected I have a tell target to the enemy ship, which
basically says goto a label and play the movieclip. I have put a test
variable inside the collision detected bit of code and it is being set
correctly every time.
The problem seems to be that it is calling the tell target but the target
movie clip is not finishing playing the 3 frames that it is required to
play. On the third frame I have a remove movie clip action. The problem is
intermittent - i.e sometimes it will remove it, sometimes it won't. If I put
the remove movie clip on the frame of the label the tell target calls, it
works every time. I hope I am making some sense here.
If anyone could have a look and see if they can identify the problem, it
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Paul
