You use GET and POST to communicate just like with PHP, and a text file
(for loading variables) can be generated by both technologies in the same
manner...

JSP might be a tad advantageous if you're using Flash 5, because of the
(freeware?) java XML servers that you could easily integrate, if desired.
Otherwise there isn't much difference...
