It could be director work (not Flash) or it could be Flash 5,
which (if I'm not mistaken) has the ability to turn off the hand.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

There was another way with Flash 4 that used a button in a
two frame movie clip (and the button wasn't in one frame).
The movie moved so quickly, that you never (rarely) see the
hand, yet the button still worked. That wasn't really a great
workaround though...
