Subject: RE: FLASH: Flash4 problem importing PNG's?

i saved an earlier post (20000522)from someone on the list - i hope they
won't mind my reposting it:

I would bet you are running into a deficiency in the way Photoshop writes
PNG files. Would have thought they'd fixed it by now; I know the problem
exists in 5.0.... if I recall correctly, it writes the gamma information
out
incorrectly. Oddly, only some programs are troubled by this. I guess Flash
is one of them.

This is assuming you created the PNG in Photoshop. I would think that
doing
a batch open/resave with Fireworks would fix this issue--I had to do this
with a multimedia CD I did using a Quicktime based authoring program. QT
is
one of the programs that is fooled by those incorrectly generated PNG
files
and displays them darker. Fireworks corrects the problem.

This is just to the best of my recollection, since it's been a while since
I
had this problem.
