Hi all Just would like us all to pause for a moment in remembrance of Yahoo Search Marketing (nee Overture), once the pioneer of paid search, now the albatross I can't wait to call time on. In less than 10 years, Yahoo has successfully managed to take the golden goose, and convert it into slow pages, clunky interfaces, popups you couldn't get rid of, mischievous (and downright unreliable) conversion reporting, active hawker of spurious clicks from dodgy sites, taker of balance payments when in large credit... the list is endless. Anyway, goodbye you will not be missed... The final nail? I now login to all my accounts and every time go to the 'convert to Microsoft Ad Center' page... fine, of course they want to get people across to their shiny new partner... but why, oh why, can't they offer an option of 'already have a Microsoft Ad Center account' to this page? Did they really think that those who could be bothered to keep their YSM accounts open would not use Bing too? It is dumb, of course, but, then again, it is Yahoo Search Marketing we're talking about! I genuinely hope that Microsoft does end up providing the paid search competition that Google needs...
