Hi Al, We've been through this a few times. IP blocks are country assigned so if you don't change the original country, you should be fine. If you're changing with Rackspace UK, this will be a UK IP but if you're US based, check this. You'll get a visit from Google's malware bot - an IP change will trigger that automatically. That shouldn't be an issue but if it is, you may see all associated sites on this IP removed from the index. So check all sites and that there are no hacks serving malware. If you do you get a quick rinse and wash from Google, a month's bounce on rankings is likely to be the worst that you'll suffer. The geo location will remain the same, the supplier will remain the same, but the IP address will obviously be changing after many many years... Getting conflicting reports on whether this will have an affect on SEO of client sites that we host? Some say yes, others say no and online research is mixed too. Asked Rackspace and they said yes, but they could just be covering their backs to be on the safe side... Anybody got any experiences with this? Anything else we should be aware of? All advice much appreciated!
