Agree. Please keep this list. Not a massive fan of LI groups. Email is by far my preferred choice of communication I rarely comment, but find the correspondence both useful and rather insightful to follow! PLEASE keep this list as it is. It is great, LI has its virtues but please keep this as it is. ShouldUKNM move? I always get the sense (on LI) that it's a pool of vanity and barely-disguised self-promotion ... which is why I use it a lot. Just kidding... but it is, isn't it? You join groups just because you feel there might be some opportunity in there... when we moved to Basingstoke, we joined the Basingstoke and Hampshire Business forums and have occasionally posted in there, but it's really trivial stuff. Full of people who just ask inane questions and then never return whilst the trolls go to town on making them feel small and stupid. I guess with this list, I feel that this is a deep resource of experience and there are many on here willing to ask questions without feeling dumb, and many willing to contribute from their areas of expertise. I also see that many of us respect each others skillset and although occasionally it can get heated, I get the sense that we're all in it to help others. Digital is a much bigger pond than it was when I joined the list in 2001 (or so)... and yet this does feel a bit like a club. You wouldn't get that on LI. I mean, given our substantial track record and success of driving thousands of profitable leads into top tier businesses in 2011, then you can trust our opinion (and click here for our pricing on)... ... oh, sorry, forgot this isn't LinkedIn ... ;-) Moving swiftly on - every few months I ask what would amount to a 'dumb' question when something arrives outside of my area of expertise. And yet people don't scoff, they just get on with it. Anyway, all the best to all for 2012. I will be offline as my fourth boy is due Tuesday ... life moves on fast: when I joined I wasn't a father... Cheers John B On 5 Jan 2012, at 11:14, Barry Furby wrote: Just my 2 pennies... I wouldn't move it... I find UKNM a really useful resource, with the contributors often having well thought and valuable opinions and advice on topics. LinkedIn has become hugely over subscribed, and the two groups I try to moderate with 1,500 or so members each are becoming a target for link droppers and not people with quality content or opinion. Something that is very well managed here (virtual pat on the back!) Also a reply on email list during your work day might be more acceptable than clicking around on LinkedIn - often seen as behaviour of a job seeker ;) Keep up the good work... regards barry furby | director fresh resources* digital | social | marketing recruitment m: +44 (0)7833 196 336 t: +44 (0)1235 81 7777 - Oxford d: +44 (0)203 582 5321 - Direct t: +44 (0)203 582 5320 - London w: www.freshresources.co.uk <http://www.freshresources.co.uk/> tw: @freshresources @barryfurby li: www.linkedin.com/in/barryfurby <fresh300.png> <http://www.freshresources.co.uk/> "if you make a difference, people will gravitate to you. they want to engage, to interact and to get you involved". I ponder this from time-to-time, but I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on Linkedin groups? Is it worth moving uk-netmarketing and the other lists over to Linkedin as I'm guessing pretty much everyone is signed up? Are they Good? Bad? Useful? Spam? Ignored? My tuppence is that they can be useful, but I'm signed up to quite a few. The API now allows better integration and retrieval of the content so it seems like it might be a good solution. Or do you have another superb solution? I'd really love your opinions on this one. Thanks in advance.
