Hiya Angus,

I'd love to know how the job search went. Would be good to guage the state
of the market, especially the growth in popularity of newer programming
stacks Ruby/Python/Scala, etc.

We organised the Careers Day at Digital Shoreditch (
http://chinwag.com/careers/digitalshoreditch) on Wed which I thought would
be dominated by grads. Turns out there was a massive number of more
experienced engineers/designers in attendance which was a surprise. Not
sure if it's a reflection of tough times to find work, or that there's
plenty of opportunity.

Another surprise was a clear demarquation between skill sets from different
employers. Old school media and IT firms hiring Java/C++ engineers, digital
media agencies and startups hiring Ruby/Python/LAMP/Javascript.

Would love to hear general observations on how people are finding the hunt
for engineering talent.

BTW - if anyone's interested, there were 1,000 people through the door so
think it's safe to say we'll be planning another one during SMWLDN in Sep
(24-28).

Toodle Pip

Sam
