>> Would be interested to know what other channels people are using though Hi Chris. For this type of chat, no single channel successfully. But there is an awful lot of noise……! Interestingly we are being commissioned to do a lot of ‘news-stream’ style interfaces within specialist topic sites (premium B2B primarily) – pulling editorial, third party feeds, comment, social and user account based community into semantically organised channels within one destination site (the interesting bit for us being the algorithms and content analysis) making the diverse content sources more digestible for the users and ‘ownable’ & controllable by the site / product owners, who are performing the content creation, curation, editorial and moderation role. Perhaps a sign of the times…? angus -- Angus Phillipson Byte9 <http://www.thebyte9.com/> angus at thebyte9.com** +44 (0) 771 043 8972 +44 (0) 0208 780 6350 *From:* uk-netmarketing-bounces at mm.chinwag.com [mailto: uk-netmarketing-bounces at mm.chinwag.com] *On Behalf Of *Chris Kempt *Sent:* 26 November 2012 14:29 *To:* john at nemisys.uk.com; uk-netmarketing *Subject:* Re: [uk-netmarketing] Leaving UKNM? You must be joking! Agreed, for me I enjoy this list because it’s a drip-feed of 90% interesting discussion as opposed to deluge of 90% bollocks :o). I also appreciate the “pruning” of self-promotion that Sam and the team do (much as I’ve fallen foul of it over the years!) Would be interested to know what other channels people are using though? You must be joking! Hi Benn For me, it’s not the frequency so much as the quality of response when you need it. So for a really really tiny time commitment we have each other on call. I suspect going to Facebook (or Linkedin) would up the activity level, up the time commitment we need to make to feel we are contributing usefully (and therefore that we are earning our keep), and all with a corresponding decrease in quality from the increased spam our higher (social) profile would afford. jd John Duffy Marketing Director [image: cid:3351500905_1077630] www.nemisys.uk.com john at nemisys.uk.com blog<http://www.nemisys.uk.com/blogs/nemisys/Default.asp?authorID=3&utm_source=CompanyEmail&utm_medium=email&utm_term=signature&utm_content=jd&utm_campaign=Gmail> linkedin <http://www.linkedin.com/in/johnrduffy> slideshare <http://www.slideshare.net/johnrduffy/presentations> @johnrduffy <http://twitter.com/#!/johnrduffy> @nemisys <http://twitter.com/#!/nemisys> Support & switchboard: 0844 706 9665 Support email: support at nemisys.uk.com Direct: +44 (0)118 9122226 Mobile: +44 (0)7887 731799 *From:* uk-netmarketing-bounces at mm.chinwag.com [ mailto:uk-netmarketing-bounces at mm.chinwag.com<uk-netmarketing-bounces at mm.chinwag.com>] *On Behalf Of *Benn Neoco *Sent:* 22 November 2012 17:17 *To:* uk-netmarketing *Subject:* Re: [uk-netmarketing] Leaving UKNM? You must be joking! It's all very nice saying you support the list but it seems to be much more emotional than rational. This list has been pretty much dead for some time. I've had a great time on here and respect the collective input from all over the years. Obviously kudos to Sam for making it happen but if no one really uses the list then what difference does it make if it is here? I had pretty much forgotten about UKNM until that first post (in ages) a few weeks ago. If you all really love it so much then why not step up the discussions? Not for the sake of it, or that renders the list pointless too. I'm just saying I remember a time when this list was buzzing and it would be nice to see it back in swing again. Would it not be better if it was a Facebook page? That would also increase the group size and reach over time as member engagement would expose the group to new members. *Benn Achilleas* Founder of Neoco. However all the postings are great... seems that most have a wealth of knowledge in different areas... and are willing to share their honest opinions. Let's keep it up! It's where us oldtimers get to still share, perhaps not as much as we used to, but that's because we've all got to cover so much more in the ever expanding digital universe. Funny enough another learned list in the US was going to go dark and that started up a whole bunch of threads when those who lurked for years realised they'd lose such a great resource. I see NMA.co.uk <http://nma.co.uk/> is changing to The Digitals after being tied up by eConsultancy, it looks like plenty more churn in the digital industry is to come too from what I hear. Happy to be a Chinwagger, it's now been 12 years i'm sure, so looking forward to being an unruly digital teenager next year. Keep it up Sam and Co, you do a great job with what might be the oldest email group list in town. So what's the next topic... Duoscreening? Image recognition ads? Mobile? The creeping data collection of the big 3 - Apple, Facebook, Google? The lack of talent and education? Plenty more I'm sure... Apologies, this shouldn't have gone through to the list. I've unsubscribed Frank from the list. In case anyone else wants to hop off, there's instructions at the bottom of every email.
