"pretending" was just a word I used because I don't know the technical term for what they do. It seems to be a service many companies provide:

impressionwise.com
datarenew.com
www.hygieneagent.com
http://www.ehygienics.com/contact/

etc

I'm not sure that is true.

I could do that, but if it gets a huge hard bounce, which I imagine it will, someone like mail chimp would refuse to work with us anymore. The whole idea was to clean the list of hard bounces before signing up with a proper ESP. The client has been using Interspire Email Marketer on their own box. SO need to move to modern times, but I am anxious about ruining their reputation with an initial send, if that all makes sense.

Thanks for all the replys.

Damian
