[uk-netmarketing] Best email list cleaning service?

No email provider, or system, will want to send to email addresses that are likely to bounce. The reason Mailchimp et al either won't allow it or shut your account is because it causes sender reputation problems with the receiving ISPs (Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo etc) along with filter / blacklist organisations and software which affect delivery to both webmail and corporate domains using them.

Also, if the data is old, people may no longer be interested in receiving the emails or forgotten they ever signed up and complain (easily done by clicking ' mark as junk/spam')

And old data is where ISP spam traps live - these are email addresses from accounts no longer used, recycled by ISPs to monitor emails sent to them to determine how responsible you are as a sender.

All these things (and a whole lot more besides) will affect email delivery.

My recommendation is to start with sending to small amounts of data from the most recent data age backwards and see how many bounces, complaints and spam trap hits you get. This should give you an idea of the state of the data and how far back you can go.

The alternative is to use a service which 'pings' the address to validate if it's dead or not but ISPs hate this practice so this could also get you into trouble.
